Coinstar Systems Engineer, Enterprise Services in Bellevue, Washington

Position Overview

The Systems Engineer is responsible for designing and maintaining the Systems Infrastructure that supports the corporate and enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, document, and build highly scalable systems with an emphasis on high availability and redundancy.

  • Support high profile Software AG webMethods ESB and associated systems, including routine administration, platform monitoring and diagnostics, ensuring adherence to architecture and governance standards.

  • Maintain infrastructure of all related systems within the platform and ensure the team meets their service level agreements.

  • Scheduling, testing and deploying regular patches to multiple environments.

  • Create and maintain documentation as it pertains to the systems infrastructure procedures and supported systems configurations.

  • Work closely with our development groups to analyze, develop and implement appropriate SOA-based solutions.

  • Report on necessary recommendations for additional resources or hardware and any improvements that increase performance and reliability.

  • Review literature and current practices to ensure the technology is kept up-to-date and reports on any new/emerging technology that may aid the business.

  • Design and perform server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.

  • Provide escalation support to IT support staff as needed.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Sciences or equivalent work experience.

  • 2+ years of Windows Server administration experience.

  • 2- 4 years of programming experience in Java.

  • 1-2 years of system integration experience with an integration package (MuleSoft, Boomi, TIBCO, OpenESB)

  • 3+ years with designing and implementing a virtual environment.

  • 5+ years demonstrated ability to complete work within scope and on schedule under pressure of deadlines.

  • 3+ years with MS Windows and Linux Server Operating Systems.

  • 3+ years with high availability implementation including clustering, replication technologies and disaster recovery strategies.

  • 3+ years with designing an Enterprise Backup system.

  • 3+ years with designing in a Storage Area Network environment.

  • Experience with Ansible a plus

  • Experience with Docker a plus

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Working knowledge of REST and SOAP APIs, SFTP file transfers.

  • Desire to learn and understand enterprise system integration requirements, patterns and technology.

  • Desire and ability to assist with administering the webMethods Integration Server platform and its components.

  • Understanding of network components such as layer 2 and 3 equipment, load balancers and firewalls is a plus.

  • Self-directed, with proven problem solving skills.

  • Excellent written and oral communications skill.

  • Ability to manage small to large sized infrastructure and application projects.

  • Ability to work effectively within a team.

  • Ability to work under pressure of deadlines.

  • Ability to accurately estimate project work based on written requirements.

  • Ability to work during non-business hours during times of crises.

Business Travel

Some travel may be required to accomplish projects.

Physical Requirements

Sedentary work involves remaining in a stationary position most of the time in front of a computer, using a keyboard, mouse and telephone. Regularly operate a computer and other office equipment. Occasionally move about the work site to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc. Exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or regularly move objects. Communicate and exchange information with co-workers and other individuals in person and electronically.
